Can anyone help me get back Home/Berlin
Hi my name is Garry Frobart. I use to go to JFK from 1984-88 and would have graduated 1995. I was one of the only Americans that had no military affiliation at the time. My mother, originally from Berlin, moved us there because she had cancer and wanted to live out the rest of her life in her home city. We use to live in Kreuzberg on the Stressemanstr.
In the 5th grade I was left back...in English go figure! So my mother sent me back to my father in Long Island New York There I picked my English back up and was able to get back into the proper grade. Now needless to say I am a little screwed in both languages lol.
In 1998 I joined the Army just to be able to get back to Germany. I was able to have a choice of station but since there was no more Berlin Brigade I choose Mannheim. After completing my active duty time I remained in Mannheim.
I have been trying my whole life to get back to Berlin but I can’t seem to find a job that will land me there. I still have some ants, uncle and cousins that live there that I would like to find as well. My mother was one of twelve children. If anyone knows of any opportunity for me to make it back "Home" I would really appreciate it!
Ich bin ein Berliner out of water. Also this is the last place of where I have memories of my mother before she past.
I would like to meet some people that went to the JFK School. I am currently in Kuwait for 2 more months. When I return I will be visiting some family in Schoeneberg.
If anybody would like to meet I would be glad to make some new friends that understand and had the pleasure of what we went through.
